This was a long, long day! A monster day! 24-hours into this day - I'm writing this post! 18-hours of airport and flight time .. then 6-hours of tourist time and now ready for rest !! .. after I send you some pic's.
Boeing 867 to Amsterdam .. then a Boeing 737 to Budapest. Amsterdam is one crazy airport. It has become Europe's 'hub'. So much construction going on. So many planes have their passengers bussed to them on the tarmac. It's like TWA days, outside stairway to board.
Took a taxi to the Marriott .. look at this view, as we get close to the Marriott:
This is the Buda Castle .. just across from our hotel! across the Danube
on the same drive, church to the right of Buda Castle
Checked-in, dropped off luggage in the room and headed out to get a brisk walk in (maybe Joe doesn't do 'brisk'). Stopped to take some pic's of neat buildings :
just before we got to The Great Market Hall (formerly the main train sta.) we stopped to look at some outside food booths:
looking at The Great Market Hall :
took some more building pics heading back .. looking for a dinner place :
stopped and had dinner; Brassoi- csirkehus, burgonya, fokhagyma, paradicsom
chicken,potatoes,garlic,tomato pieces
It was dark for our walk back, Buda Castle shined brightly!
What a full first day! Staved off the jet lag, now will probably sleep 10-hours!
Get on the ship tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon. Should be a great adventure.
Love the lights in the market hall! Looks like crisp blue skies. Way to stay awake, hope you got some rest
ReplyDeleteWe should have stayed awake our last trip. Didn't and took 3 days to get on local time😏
